Came across this 1980s-vintage Black & Decker Spacemaker coffee maker at a thrift store today. It’s designed to be mounted under a kitchen cabinet to save counter space.

It’s a little symphony of rounded corners and little modules: The water tank that slides in at top left, the filter basket and coffee carafe on the right.

I was curious to see what they looked like today and boy howdy, they are pure 1970s cassette futurism.

You know Aunt Beru steamed her blue milk in one of these babies, and the crew of the Nostromo had at least three on standby.

We have a definite drinking problem. Coffee drinking that is.

I just realized we have SIX different coffee makers. Three in the kitchen alone - an espresso/cappuccino maker, a Nespresso machine, and a Mr Coffee. Not to mention the Keurig recently sh!t the bed so I threw it out. The man cave has a Keurig and a Bunn Commercial three pot coffee station. And there’s a mini Keurig in the smokehouse.

The first step to recovery is admitting there’s a problem …
