The caramel and coffee flavors in these Caramel Macchito Blondie Bars come together in a chewy, rich cookie. Great for people who like both coffee and caramel.
Ingredients: 1 cup flour. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1 cup light brown sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 cup caramel sauce. 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional. 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules.
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350F 175C. Grease and line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper. In a bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until well combined. Add egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth. Gradually add flour and instant coffee granules, stirring until just combined. Fold in chopped nuts if using. Spread half of the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter. Spread the remaining batter on top, then drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over it. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the caramel into the batter for a marbled effect. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly firm. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.
