Plant of the Day
Friday 17 January 2020
Folks you may have noticed that a large number of posts arrived at once! That is because I have been away with YellowWood Adventures (http://www.yellowwoodadventures.com) and the Ethiopian Coffee Company beyond reliable access to the internet. I went to investigate coffee growing in Ethiopia which is the natural habitat of Coffea arabica (coffee). Here wild plants are being harvested as Forest Coffee which accounts for only 5-10% of total Ethiopian production but allows for high biodiversity. This area of forest included a large, venerable tree which the owner’s grandfather had known. Coffee needs the shade of larger trees to flourish.
