Correction to the millennia of misquoting this text like many others (ex. "money is the root of"...sigh): 666 is not "the number of the devil!" (cue the atonal music), the text says very plainly in a very plain language: "It is the number of man (some ancient manuscripts also have: "a man"). In the Bible's cosmic view, the temporally allowed frustration/trauma/chaos that is called evil, culminating in a final set of suicidal hubrises, like all the others preceding and typifying it in the age of Adam, comes into the world through the usual suspects: us. The almost-but-not-quite gods. 👍🏽
