Thanks to all the WWII flight sims I played in middle & high school, I learned the planes were started with shotgun shell blanks.

That starter shell imagery has stuck with me, because firing up a fighter plane's giant propeller engine with the overpressure of a shotgun blast is one of the most goddamn metal things I've ever heard of.
And because my brain works in excruciatingly specific metaphors.
So I think of the first small, sugary thing I have breakfast, like a yogurt cup, as a shotgun starter to get my day turning and give me energy for making the rest of breakfast.
Rumbly airplane noises while washing the yogurt spoon are fun and recommended.
