Rainbow Coffs Harbour Christmas party to celebrate community and diversity
Rainbow Coffs Harbour is a dedicated and inclusive LGBTQIA+ group focused on fostering a strong sense of community among its members. Their goal is to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere within a safe environment, all while enjoying the beautiful Coffs Coast.
The Rainbow Coffs Harbour Christmas Party will be held this Saturday, 14 December at the Plantation Hotel, 88 Grafton Street, Coffs Harbour. Robyn Dever, founder and director of the Rainbow Coffs Harbour, said it would cap off a successful year for the group.
“We held the first ever Pride Walk in June this year for Coffs Harbour and will be having another one in June 2025,” she told QNews.
The purpose of the Rainbow Coffs Harbour is to provide social support, and educational opportunities for the LGBTQIA+ community, along with their friends and allies. Established in 2013 by Robyn and three other people who relocated from Sydney and Melbourne to Coffs Harbour, the group has evolved over the years. While three of the original members have since departed, the commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment remains strong.
“We all try to have a bit of fun, in a safe environment, on the beautiful Coffs Coast. Everyone is welcome here at Rainbow Coffs Harbour,” Robyn said.
Aside from the Christmas party held this Saturday, the Rainbow Coffs Harbour group hosts lawn bowling, ten-pin bowling, dinners, monthly drinks at various venues, picnics and co-hosts podcasts with the local Indigenous community. The Rainbow Coffs Harbour group also works closely with ACON.
“We have just had World AIDS Day when they lit up the Big Banana in red. We are about to have a meeting with the Mid North Coast Legal Centre about our rights and things that we would like to know about, such as wills,“ Robyn said.

The upcoming Christmas party will be an adults-only event and will held from 6pm to 12am at the Plantation, with tickets costing $20. Attendees can purchase their own dinner and drinks, while complimentary dessert will be provided.
Robyn said the atmosphere would be vibrant, with two DJs spinning tunes for a night of dancing, as well as sixteen exciting lucky door prizes being awarded to patrons.
From 6 to 8pm, Santa will make a special appearance, for photos beside the beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The back room will be elegantly decorated in a beach/Christmas theme, helping create a memorable experience for all attendees.
