Calling LGBTQ+ artists & works exploring parenthood pathways
Genea Fertility and the Victorian Pride Centre are calling for artists with an interest in fertility and parenthood pathways for a new exhibition.
Are you an artist who would like to participate in the upcoming ‘Exhibition of Life’ at the Victorian Pride Centre?
In collaboration with Genea Fertility, they are searching for expressions of interest from LGBTQIA+ artists or allies.

“Celebrating life in all its forms is at the heart of the Pride Centre,” said Victorian Pride Centre CEO Paul Horwell.
“From chosen families to donor-conceived families, life takes many shapes in our community.”
“We’re proud to partner with Genea Fertility to showcase artists who explore and honour that diversity.”

Exploring life in all its complexity
The upcoming exhibition will run from the 13th to the 27th of October in the Pride Centres Theatrette.
With an Opening Night event on 16th October to showcase and celebrate the participating artists.
Are you one of them?
The ‘Exhibition of Life’ invites artists to explore the theme of life in all its complexity.
From the literal beginnings of life and the transformation of identity, to new chapters, personal stories, and the emotional realities of creating life through fertility treatment.
This includes the unique role that donors play in helping create LGBTIQA+ families.
“Life means something different to everyone,” said Kathleen Waite, Director of Operations, Genea Fertility.
“For some, it’s identity and community. For others, it’s transformation, love, and the creation of family.”
“At Genea, we see every day how donors and fertility science make it possible for LGBTQIA+ people to create the families they’ve dreamed of.
“Through this exhibition, we want to open the doors for community artists to reflect and celebrate the many ways life is created.”

SUBHEADING
The brief for works has been internationally left open, so if you are thinking of submitting an expression of interest to put your work in the exhibition, the only limitation is you.
The aim is to encourage works that are literal, symbolic, abstract, emotional, humorous, or hopeful.
Just like the journey that many go on in our communities to make our families a reality.
Artists are welcome to reflect their own personal experiences, whether with IVF, donor conception, family and community, or broader interpretations of what it means to live, grow, and create.
Artists are invited to submit an Expression of Interest by 14th September.
