         The basket of discarded and unwanted gifts from the various Barons was meant to act as a olive branch -- an apology for asking so much of her to save Ryder, for putting her own interests and life at risk, and an attempt to mend the cut ties between them. There was little point in letting such fine things go to waste, but life as a soon to be Baroness meant little time for social calls, even to her oldest and dearest friend. There is an unfamiliar nervous tremor  in her fingers as she stands before Veil’s door. A favor was one matter. A true social call was another entirely, hence the shaking hand as she knocked on the Cog doctor’s door.
