Growing up we had a ton of his books and then like his game called Pinball Science? That game is why I got extra credit in physics class in high school years later I am not even kidding. Such a sweet game I wonder if there's a way I could play it somehow nowadays... such a perfect game...

Looking up things for fun like the etymology of doodle and also apparently from wikipedia's page on doodle there's a page on "Marginalia" which I guess is the fancy-schmancy term for "shit written in the margins" and under "Writers known for their marginalia" they have Fermat which I mean I WOULD HOPE SO and honestly my goal in life is to write some convincing mathematical shit in the margins saying "I have the proof but it's too large for the margins" so that for centuries after my death people try to prove it

I mean in fairness to Fermat he was proven correct (in 1994/5) and the proof was over 150 pages (and also like… some really high forms of math I'm not sure existed yet in the 1600's but sure) so like… yes, it wouldn't have fit in the margins, but really now

"Hellfire" is like the end-all be-all of villain songs to me and Frollo has the amazing Tony Jay voicing him (there's a reason Tony Jay did Shere Khan in TaleSpin ugh it's fucking golden and oh so delightfully dripping with prestige) and let me tell you about how much I love The Hunchback of Notre Dame because it's just so dark and the villain is driven purely by lust and "Hellfire" is pretty much just "HOLY MOTHER OF GOD I HAVE A BONER BUT WHAT ABOUT MY PURITY AND RIGHTEOUSNESS IT'S ALL THIS WOMAN'S FAULT" and like technically the full song is "Heaven's Light/Hellfire" where you have the two like society views of Esmeralda and like women in general of the Madonna/Whore because you have Quasimodo who views her as an angel and saving grace and perfection and everything and sings about that on the roof of Notre Dame and then you descend into wherever the hell Frollo is with his fireplace and then his whole thing about how she's a temptress and everything and this whole like victim-blaming/foreshadowing thing and UGH OKAY THE IMAGERY IS SO GREAT OKAY SO GREAT THE WHOLE MOVIE IS SO GREAT CAN I JUST TALK ABOUT IT

[Sidenote of the three main guys vying for Esmeralda's affections only one seems to treat her as a person and not some sort of perfect heavenly being abstract and that's Phoebus and people need to stop complaining that Quasimodo doesn't get the girl like c'mon now so bogus and that's not even the only reason that's bogus that's just like an in-universe reason okay]

And ugh I am so in love with "Poor Unfortunate Souls" it practically hurts like I don't nearly as much to say about it as "Hellfire" I just dig it so hard it's a slow-build to frenzy and WHUPS I LOVE THAT IN SONGS and Ursula is so great

And then we have my family. We don’t do Christmas - no lights, no tree, no decorations. There’s barely presents and a good deal of the time they’re given before hand or at least you know what they are before hand. No wrapping though. There used to be loads of cards when my mum was a teacher and she’d get them from her pupils but I’m going to win the game of most cards this year with the three I have already and whatever comes afterwards too (family cards don’t count in this race). Honestly, if Christmas falls on a Sunday you can’t tell the difference from the meal either. Probably has a little to do with the complete disinterest  in religion too.

Am I that weird or does anyone else not do Christmas (for non-religious reasons) too?

I imagine others do but I don't know if anyone else personally, to my memory (or I may have years ago but other than you not at the moment). But I mean like... here it's a federal holiday and stuff so it's kinda like... sort of a strange beast? Yeah. I need to make you at least a digital card WHUPS I am so late in sending everything out I've been so busy since like August.

Growing up ours had to go up after my sister’s birthday on December 15th.

This year’s tiny rebellion after 7 or so Christmases not living with the family, now I’m supposedly a grownup with my own home and a hairy Irish manbeast who I can make my own traditions with? Buying a poinsettia on December 5th. I’M SO ROCK N ROLL

ROCK IT. AND FUCK YEAH POINSETTIAS. We have ours year-round though they might have not been watered enough this year... hmm. I should go check on them.
