VIVIENNE JULIA COHEN-CHANG is a 20 year old JUNIOR with a major in THEATRE DESIGN. Vivi is STRAIGHT, and prefers SHE/HER pronouns. She was born on DECEMBER 21ST, and is Tina Cohen-Chang’s sister, making her the OLDEST member of the Cohen-Chang family.
ABOUT THE STUDENT:
Vivi was adopted at age four by two dentists from Southern California who’s hearts were enormous and wanted to do everything they could to make themselves a family, despite not having their own children. She remembers little bits and pieces from the orphanage in South Korea where she spent the first four years of her life, but she doesn’t dwell on those memories and instead is very thankful for the opportunities she has been given.
Growing up, she was encouraged to try everything, and as a result, she has teeny tidbits of experience with almost everything, including but certainly not limited to soccer, softball, violin, piano, speaking French, speaking Spanish, ceramics, rollerblading, skateboarding, candy making, camping, swimming, surfing, biking, girl scouts, cooking, building bird houses, making her own clothing, tennis, and anything in between. She found that she didn’t like everything she tried, and as a result, ended up quitting a lot of things, giving her the appearance of being flaky. It’s quite opposite though, when she likes something or makes a commitment, it is a very solid thing. She still makes her own clothing.
While on her years long tirade of trying everything, Vivi auditioned for a school musical. She wasn’t as into it as she though she could be, and didn’t make the cast, however they were looking for student crew members for stagehands and to help build the sets, so she signed up for that. It turned out to be something that she loved as much as she was good at it, and it was something she spend the rest of her high school career doing. By senior year, she had a hand in the design of the set and the costumes for the show, and that was when she realized that she wanted to do this for a living, making Ashwood an easy choice when it came to colleges.
One of Vivi’s defining points is her lack of caring what people think. She often laughs the loudest, dances the wildest, sings in public, or wears clothing that she has created, even if it’s not what everyone else is wearing right then. She’s outgoing and gives off the appearance of being very sweet, though she can have a bit from time to time, offering sarcasm when she’s with familiar people. She also loves to make things with her hands, and loves to make origami lucky stars.
There is one thing, however, that Vivi tries to hide from everyone. Despite all of the negative attention he’s garnered, Vi is obsessed with Justin Bieber. She’s attended every concert of his that she could, most of the time getting meet and greet passes. Her ultimate goal has been to gain Justin’s attention so they could date, and as a result hates Selena Gomez.
