“so… what are we now?” ( briar & col )
Col looked up from the piece of wood he'd been carving at for a few hours now and blinked at the female's question. Truth be told, they'd come a long way from when they'd first met. Originally he'd been contracted to build her cabin by her grandfather. Never had he thought they'd get to this point? But here they were. He'd stayed the night and they rose with the sun. He watched her do idle housework as he sat at her table and carved at a piece of wood he collected from her stockpile.
They'd sat in comfortable silence before her words broke that. She knew what he was and for the most part, he understood what it was that her grandfather did. That didn't mean it didn't make him any less nervous. He was sure that her grandfather had standards and was also sure that he probably didn't meet any of them at all. Setting the piece of wood down he shifted in his seat and opened his arms for her.
He waited for her to join him before he wound his arms around her frame and buried his nose in her hair. "I... don't know... does there have to be a name for it?" he asks quietly, though he is sure that isn't what she wants to hear. "I care about you so much... " he murmurs. "We are not friends... yet not quite mates yet... is that wrong?" he asks.
