An old one. But I like it a lot.
G82.65-2.00
G82.65-2.00 is a cold cloud filament, a region of freezing dust and gas stretched across a warmer section of space. The blue section of this infrared image shows the coldest region of the cloud, some -259* Celsius, but with 800 times the mass of our Sun.
Astronomers examine these cold spots as areas of future star formation. Stars form from gas and dust collapsing together from the force of gravity, which is only possible if the material is cold enough to not escape the pull. G82.65-2.00 is cold enough that, if its mass is sufficient, it may soon collapse into new stars.
