Rin stood in front of Makoto's house. He took a deep breath before he dared to knock, the third deep breath to be exact. He had left half a year ago and now was finally back, hoping that between him and his boyfriend things were still good. He had missed him so much.
These past few months had been lonely.
Not lonely in the sense that he didn’t have anyone— no, he had his friends, and for them he was immeasurably grateful— it was just that he didn’t have the person that he wanted the most. Call him greedy, but without Rin here, his life didn’t feel right.
He had promised to keep in contact, and he did. For a while. But drifting was inevitable when it came to distance, and their conversations became fewer and farther between, sometimes going a whole week between conversations. Makoto understood that Rin was busy, so he didn’t question the short conversations that became regular for them, he was thankful whenever him and Rin spoke to each other.
But after a while the insecurity set in.
He doesn’t need you anymore,
He’s found someone better than you.
With those thoughts coming to him more and more often as his conversations with Rin happened less and less often, he started to believe his mind over the man that he loved.
So it went without saying that, when he heard a knock at his front door, Rin was the very last person that he expected to see.
“Rin..” Was all he could manage. With all of his surprise he could barely breathe or move, let alone speak.
