So here are some of my pics from ColdCon 2 last Saturday. It was so cool to meet Tom and Eoin again, plus the bonus Rupert and Adetomiwa (with whom unfortunately I couldn't get a photo, I got to talk to him when he was finally running away after an hour of pics/autographs, he was in a hurry poor guy). The film itself was brilliant, I certainly didn't expect what I saw... The trailer really doesn't give anything away, and neither will I, plot-wise. Suffice to say, once you've seen it, your respect for both Eoin and Tom will grow tenfold - the story itself is very well written and superbly acted by both leads - and Tom shines from his first scene. It was great to finally see him in a role that showed his full potential. We know from previous interviews that this is the reason why Eoin wrote the script for Cold - to give Tom a challenging role - so well done to both, Eoin for writing a haunting and disturbing story full of twists and turns, and Tom for really giving this character his all, and bringing him to life in such a believable manner. The Q&A was both hilarious and very deep, as the questions were really interesting ones and showed how intelligent the audience was. Then Eoin and Tom braved the hot London summer sun for almost 3 hours to talk to everyone who wanted a moment with them. They took pics, signed stuff, answered questions until every fan had had their moment. I took pity of Eoin once I had spoken to him: it was so hot and I went to get something fresh to drink, and thought of him huddled by fans in the middle of the pavement, unable to move from his spot, so I brought him a bottle of water - hope he liked the thought :) The bonus of the day for me was meeting other fans from around the world, it really was lovely to share experiences and talk about Cold, Merlin and whatever came to our minds. So nice to think the Merlin Family is still so united even though the series ended months ago. I have friends all around Europe now and I have to thank Eoin for giving me the chance to meet them in real life too. Ahh. Today was lovely. :')

Loads of stickers given out in the queue! I'm glad people liked them. When we got inside, Eoin's sister asked for a sticker that wasn't of her brother's face. Then we walked upstairs, past Ade (I jumped in the air ngl), and got some pretty good seats in the cinema! Then we realised we forgot to pick up our signed posters. Oops. Oh well, it meant walking past Ade again so... :D

Was soooo awesome seeing so many people I recognised from ColdCon1, or the Tempest, or even tumblr. I love the little Merlin fan community. Met some pretty cool people today. :D

The movie was... Erm, it was okay. Not my sort of thing, I guess. Definitely would have been my sort of thing before tumblr made me extra picky about certain things. But, it started with some shots of a dead fox in the water! Someone asked a question about it afterwards (and about how Eoin's always killing dogs in his films, lolol owch) and he told us where he 'got it'. [[morbid warning animal pain/death]] Oh my gosh, Tom was not happy, Eoin promised he'd never tell the story. Eoin's dog (well, his mum's dog) got a hold of a fox and broke it's back, and Eoin put it out of it's misery. I wanted to tell him how much I appreciated him making something beautiful out of it's tragic end, but I lost my nerve. The fox/dog thing was talked about again outside, someone said he should be killing small fluffy white dogs in his movies and not GSDs and he was like 'is killing some dogs is more acceptable than killing other dogs?'

I just laughed because this is the second time I've gone to see a Merlin castmember's new project and dead dogs have been a part of the experience

Anyway

During the movie credits the Merlin cast where thanked by name and then 'For the love of Camelot!' was on screen and everyone cheered :) :) :)

The Q&A had some funny moments. Hopefully it's recorded somewhere! After he released us all I went straight upstairs because holy shit Rupert was actually there

And then we met Ade on the stairs, but he was being accosted from all angles and I felt bad because he was trying so hard to leave bless his sooouulllll. I did tap him on the arm and ask for a photo and he looked at me with his beautiful face and was like 'okay' but then someone started talking to him and he forgot and made his way down the stairs while taking photographs with everyone else. So we decided to leave him be until he got outside, but when he eventually made it he was actually walking backwards while talking/taking photos with fans and yeeaaahhh it took him half an hour to leave. He looked happy and everything, but I didn't want to add to it. So no photos with Ade, but I got to soak in his presence and that was awesome. 

Talked with Tom for a while. Brolinstolemyheart got a picture with him, he said he liked her stickers, and then she told him I was responsible for them and just

I offered him a sticker and he looked at a bunch of them and picked up one with his derpy face on. It was so much less awkward than last time, thank goodness. Unfortunately, then he chose a sticker and it just had to be the only one without a bloody tab, so I had to take it back off him because it wouldn't work. He got one in the end, though. :'D

We ended up waiting the longest for Eoin, so heard a lot of the discussions he was having with people. It was so funny, because we were all crowded around them and taking pictures, passers-by kept trying to join in and asking who they were (some girls came out of their house in PJs because they thought Eoin was Ashton Kutcher! bahaha)

We gave him a sticker too :)

Again, it was just SO nice to soak up their presence - I felt happier being there, around them and around other happy fans. It was less organised than last time, and not as fun (though last time was the best day of my life so it's pretty hard to beat) but RUPERT AND ADE WERE THERE and it was nice to meet Eoin & Tom again. So. It was a lovely day.
