nothing burns like the cold

Travelling was something Juliet enjoyed very much, and yet, it was the first time she was so far away from her beloved Verona. That would allow her to avoid Paris’ courtship and to discover new horizons. However ... She already missed Romeo. It was foolish, she knew, but she hoped he would not forget about her in the amount of time she’d be away. On the other hand, it could be a test for them, to see if their love could last despite the distance. She did not doubt it.
While her father had a lot of things to deal with, Juliet would be staying at one of his greatest friend’s home, at the Kuragins. The young girl did not know them, as it was her first journey to Russia, but her father insisted that they would take great care of her. And as always, Juliet trusted her father. Led by the lord Capulet to the Kuragins’ beautiful mansion, the heiress was amazed. She had thought her house in Verona was beautiful, but the Kuragin’s was dashing.
When her dear father nudged her shoulder, she realized she was now standing in front of Hélène Kuragina, Prince Vasily’s daughter.
❝ It is a real pleasure to meet you, and I am very grateful to be welcomed here. My name is Juliet. ❞
Hélène probably already knew that, but the younger girl thought that introducing herself would be more polite. Juliet smiled softly at her. She could only hope to bound a true friendship with Hélène, as they would be in each other’s company for a long time. The young Capulet still hoped she would not be a burden to the dark-haired woman.
