The Mackenzies were friends of Lord Glenelg, the old Secretary of State for the Colonies.
"Killing for Country: A Family History" - David Marr
Just some pictures of what I’ve been working on lately. I’m turning Arbor Vale into the small village of Broch Mordha which is the town where Outlander’s Broch Tuarach and Lallybroch are located. It’s still a work in progress. I’ve made some lots but most of them are from stellatorontosims and Praaven. I wish I knew how to put this world in CAW so I can make “roads” with terrain paint.
Yes that’s Colin thinking about babies as usual and Thomas Miller running. Last shot is a WIP Lallybroch made by the amazing stellatorontosims
“Mo chridhe” Colin gently turned Rachel to face him. “What’s wrong? Ye have been quiet as a wee mouse since we landed.”
She exhaled the breath she had been holding since she heard him walk onto the balcony with her. “I won’t lie to you Colin. I’m worried...scared out of my mind really.”
“Because of the kings mission?”
“Why else? You’re leaving me to fight against hundreds of clansmen, we are basically homeless, and...
The only room Colin was able to procure was one above a bustling tavern close to the pier. It was an unusually warm evening, so Rachel opened up the window in the room and then walked out onto the little balcony. The sounds and smells coming from downstairs unsettled her. She was also weary from traveling so much and was eager to set down some roots. Colin had finally filled her in on what had become of their former home, destroyed by rival clansmen, as well as the kings mission for him while they rode toward the coast. The prospect of being homeless and living her life without Colin made every breath she took a struggle.
Colin sensed something was wrong with Rachel so he followed her out onto the balcony.
Just a couple of sneak peeks of the next update. I’m working on the editing right now.
Update: Sorry for some of the not so stellar posts. These are kind of plot points to get Rachel and Colin home to Lallybroch and to the village of Broch Mordha. Once they get there things will become A LOT more interesting.
Some backstory:
Mackenzie Manor is no more. The rival clans O’Connell, Grants, and MacDonalds have taken over what once was Colin’s father’s land. They’ve been killing anyone who tries to stop them and burning down their homes. It’s a fight that’s been building for over thirty years. Since King Frederick is a Mackenzie, this clan war is personal and in his eyes treasonous. Colin knew it was coming and what the king was going to ask of him. But before he assembles his mercenaries who will rain hell on the rival clans, he has to make sure everyone he loves is safe and far from the fighting.
Rachel lost the baby they longed for and has been healing emotionally and physically in Praaven with Colin. He’s slowly letting her know what’s going on in their former home and that he will eventually be leaving for war.
