The other class I’m super excited about teaching session still needs THREE students to register BY SUNDAY in order to run! Collecting Color: Dye and Quilt is a fun class I’ve only run one time when I was a resident. Part mad science, part fun and games, part design/color theory and part sewing! We’ll start investigating color mixing using primary colored dyes (fuchsia, turquoise and lemon yellow). Work individually and as a group to create a full spectrum of repeatable recipes. Plus, we’ll play a game of my own invention called ~color telephone~ 👀 In another exercise, students will be asked to bring in an object that means something to them and we’ll strive to match that color with dye. Our last dye activity will get us ready to move into the sewing room where we’ll learn some very basic piecing skills. Each student will leave with a small quilt top that explores some of Josef Albers’ comparative color theory compositions. Yes, I know I’m a huge nerd 🤓 but C’MON YOU GUYS: IT’S SO FUN!!
