We did move here on Monday,a nd it was a really long trip. I am probably being a little overly anxious- I have an extreme case of the pet-mother syndrome I just love my hamsters to bits- The other two seem to have settled nicely in their own cages, but Sirius is oldest and I always worry about him extra because I don't know ex. how old he is, but I know he's on his way to getting old, and I just want him to have a good life for the remainder- as he spent half of it in a tiny pet store cage

Aw, your concern is definitely understandable. For now I’d just keep him somewhere dim and quiet and try not to mess with his enclosure any more than necessary, just to give him time to feel safe again if he’s stressed.

 “Oh man! Where did you find that pickup line?” Jack let out a loud, clear laughter. “I really hope you weren’t serious buddy, because if you were I feel really bad for your game.”

“Some guy I met in the bar last night said the same freaking thing to me. I mean there are worse pick up lines out there but do they really think they work?” The scout explained while watching the male laugh. “Hey, you know I have much better lines than that.”

He has a very thick layer of paper bedding in 2/3rds of his aquarium as of right now. I realize that part of it is probably moving stress- He is over a year old (dont know exact bc pet shop) He did use to do it before but evnetually he did stop, so perhaps he is just anxious bc things are new? Im wondering if its possible that he does this out of some kind of compulsion he developed in the pet shop? He was very insanely fixated on the corner every night, I worked there so I saw him do that.

Those both sound like pretty good theories. It’s possible it was a compulsion of his from being kept in such a tiny cage and though he may have ‘grown out of it’ the stress of moving caused him to take it up again.

If you moved recently, I’d suggest giving him some time to settle in again and see if he stops on his own.

Ah, okay. Hm, it sounds like a pretty good size. Do you give your hammie digging opportunities? Is there a good, deep layer of bedding somewhere they can burrow in?
