         The day had finally come. Nirilhe sits with Talasse outside the room he shared with Revus as they waited for him to get ready. The Snow Elf wasn’t entirely sure where the procedure was going to take place, but he was finally getting his collar off. He was unbelievably nervous.

          Talasse was only able to help so much to keep him calm. He’d been reminding him all morning that with the removal of his collar it would be much easier to let go of his past and move on. Nirilhe grips the tools Manarion had helped him find so tightly it made his already pale knuckles appear washed out.

          He still had yet to tell the daedra that he’d let his identity slip to the Altmer. He was terrified that Talasse would be furious with him, thus his reasoning for not telling him yet. Though, knowing that the other was a spy, and assuming that he would have to be given strong potions while recovering, he’d let it out sooner or later.

          Nirilhe jumps when he hears a door down the hall open, but as he takes in the new scent, he realizes it’s a student entering the offices, presumably to talk to a different professor. Surely Talasse could tell that his jumpiness wasn’t just from what he was about to face...he’d might as well go ahead and tell him, right?

          He waits until the student leaves earshot, and with a small voice he speaks up. “Uhm...Talasse...? Remember how I told you that someone helped me find these tools? I--I, uhm...He knows.” he says, scooting ever so slightly away from the daedra. 

          “He’s that big, big Altmer that’s here sometimes...I...I told him. I’m sorry...I know you didn’t want me to tell anyone else because of my safety and everything, but I was scared he’d find out on his own and get angry...well, angrier than usual a--and now I’m rambling and probably making you angry and I’m so sorry it won’thappenagainIwon’ttellanyoneelse.” The last bit of his confession comes out as one panicked breath, and he has to take a moment to recollect himself, hoping that Talasse had understood him and wouldn’t make him say it all over again.

          It had been a while since she was summoned into this new era, and she was slowly getting used to it. She’d spent time catching up with her pibble and telling Oriinthel about her life before being dragged into Hircine’s Hunting Grounds. But for the past few days, Ori had been away from the college, and Talasse was nervously flitting about the campus, so she hadn’t seen much of him either.

          For the first time in the past few weeks, she was entirely alone. The wolf inside her longed for a pack she could call hers. Instead of worrying about it, though, she spent most of her time in the Arcanaeum, reading up on the history that she’d missed. 

          She looked up out of habit when the door opened, twitching her ears slightly as she went back to reading. But she quickly did a double--take. The newly--arrived book browser was a Dunmer, that much was obvious, but why did he seem familiar? He was very old, much older than Dunmer usually lived to be. Suddenly, it hits her, and she stands up, walking towards him at a brisk pace (easy to do given her long legs and the fact that the Dunmer was using a cane).

          Memories flooded through her mind at an alarming pace and she was quiet for a moment before she reached out and placed a hand on the Dunmer’s shoulder.

          “Excuse this one, but, are you...?”

          It seemed she hadn’t been caught accidentally spilling ingredients into Vivi’s mixture. Before she could come clean, however, he went right back to work. She watched carefully, and as Vivi turned away to grab something, the young khajiit yelped and grabbed the Dunmer, pulling him away. And then the mixture exploded into a mess of goo and smoke. “S–…sorry, Vivi…”

          X’afe laughs when Vivi buries his face in her mane. She was getting tall, fast. It seems her Uncle wanted to take advantage of the time he had before she was taller than him. “Are Khajiiti manes any different from Dunmer hair, Vivi?”

          “Fine, Vivi.” the young girl sighs as she stands. Barely even fifteen, she was already taller than Revus, and was nearly eye level with Mapaiur. So, she was often tasked with organizing the Dunmer’s materials that were stored too high for him to access without a step stool. “This one promises. After she finishes her homework.”

Revus pulled his coat closer around himself as he shivered, his bones themselves feeling like they rattled in the cold of Skyrim's northernmost province. "I do hate the cold," he grumbled, hunching further into his seat in the Arcaeneum as he sat with X'afé.

          She heats her paws with her breath, tapping her feet on the floor. “You’d think that mages could figure out a way to heat this place without burning the books.” she huffs, crossing her arms and tucking her hands under them. With a grumble, she scoots closer to her uncle and leans against him as gently as she could to share body heat with him.
