I had to read the Winter Prince for school when I was like 13 or something and loathed it (note: In German, in Germany, with no cultural context). I might give it another chance as an adult now when I have more context of the King Arthur legend. I didn't expect to ever come across it again in the wild on my dashboard like this.

You read this for SCHOOL? Incredible, considering I read this because of the fealty and incestuous subtext. Would definitely recommend trying it again now that you're more familiar, there's a lot going on there!

'The Summer Hikaru Died' is about a boy named Yoshiki who during the summer confronts his friend Hikaru and asks "who are you, really?". Because in reality Hikaru died a few months ago in the hills and a creature has replaced him. Now Yoshiki needs to come to terms with the fact that his real crush is dead and who even is this creature. Side plot is that there is a secretive family who know a lot about the legends of the hills and also an external exorcist prying into the locals' affairs.

i haven't actually sat and watched an anime since binging rose of versailles this past january so maybe this will get me back to my weeb roots

This chapter is the cutest thing before it makes me sad at the end. A ROOM FULL OF FLOWERS now that's a gesture.

I just keep thinking about how long it must have taken him to pick them? And also remembering how it felt to watch the anime S1 finale duel between Daryun and Hilmes where they are fighting among flowerbeds full of THE EXACT SAME FLOWERS. I don’t know whether that was deliberate but I couldn’t help but notice it and it sure felt bad, lol.

Don Ricardo... I'm low-key hating how Arakawa gives a guy a ponytail and I'm instantly weak.

Yeah... though I didn’t really pay any attention to his looks until he got injured because I’m terrible like that.

I’ve got to admit I was surprised by the choice of character design. I thought he’d be dark-haired (for spoilery reasons) and the novel says he has a beard too. But I’m happy with what we got! He’s definitely cute!
