Better Bankside has issued an open call inviting artists, designers and curators to respond to the brief for 'Colourful Crossings' - a project that will creatively transform four pedestrian crossings on Southwark Street. Colourful Crossings is the first project to be commissioned as part of its Avenue of Art programme, a long term initiative to transform public spaces along Southwark Street through working with artists and creative businesses. The aim of the Colourful Crossings commission is to explore how everyday infrastructure within the city, such as pedestrian crossings, are perceived, and to measure the impact of a high quality, engaging and artistic intervention on how Southwark Street is used by pedestrians and motorists. Colourful Crossings is part-funded through Transport for London’s ‘Future Streets Incubator’ programme. The Colourful Crossings commission is open to all artists, designers and curators. The application deadline is 5pm Friday 6th March 2015 Download the full brief for Colourful Crossings here (.pdf 1MB) Download a briefing note on Avenue of Art here (.pdf 800KB) Any questions about the Colourful Crossings Brief will be uploaded as received to the Brief Q &A here UPDATED 13 FEBRUARY 2015 (.pdf 215KB)
