6 and 7 for Castiel please? 😍
6. “I’m sorry” kiss / 7. “I’ve missed you” kiss
Boiling point. Castiel’s hands shake in front of him. They’d reached the absolute and final straw. No more shouting, no, that hadn’t happened in years. Just long stretches of silence, of hesitation of pushing forward. What are we? Where do we go from here? Questions bump around, between the space that separated them.
But that was the real fear. Jumping back in, trying to pick up where they left off, so long ago. Castiel didn’t know if they could, if they could go back to then. What they had, it was tender, and he had rubbed his skin raw when it ended. Everything had gone into songs, draining away whatever he had.
Castiel stands before her, now. No longer waiting for a phone call, trying to match up times and schedules. Words don’t end with simple fullstops, cutting conversation short. They were beyond that by now, surely.
She’s running her hands through her hair, carefully looking anywhere but at him. Lower lip wobbling, and there’s no sigh. Fingers release hair, pushing it out of her face. Eyes watery, face collapsing.
“I’m sorry.” Voice barely above a whisper, but there’s no tremble. Repeats the words, stronger this time. Looks him in the eye as she says, “I’m sorry, Castiel.”
Kind of crazy how he almost sinks to his knees in the moment. Can just feel a great weight lifting, and all he wants to do is collapse. Thank her. Cry. Castiel reaches for her, hands not still just yet. “I’m sorry.” Words tumble from him now, as he pulls her in, holds her close. Presses a kiss to the top of her head, staying there. “I’m so sorry.”
From a deep inhale, how her body shakes just enough, how her fingers twist into the material of his shirt, Castiel knows. Even with her face buried in his chest, she’s crying. Repeating those two words over and over again. Another kiss to the top of her head, before he encourages her to look up. Look him in the eye.
Castiel’s eyes water, and she’s blurry. Even his smile isn’t quite there, lost to the threat of tears. “I’ve missed you so damn much.” His voice is shaky, barely holding on. Another press of lips to her forehead, and she’s holding him tighter. “So fucking much.”
