Mount Rundle*, 2018. Ink on paper. So, the thing is, every mountain is Rundle. This is a true fact I have learned while living in various places in the Rockies. Every time I pointed out what I thought had to be the most stunning peak I'd seen yet, my very patient partner or local friends would answer, "That's Rundle." Ok, but what about that one? "That's also Rundle." Ooh, and that one? "Also Rundle."
*The Cree name for this mountain is Waskahigan Watchi, which translates to English as “house/enclosure mountain”. Which is far more apt for this mountain that holds in the towns of Canmore and Banff like a wall, rather than the name of a long-dead Methodist missionary. Unfortunately, this name is not in common or official use.
Turns out Waskahigan Watchi/Rundle is just one long, beautifully baked loaf of a mountain, stunning from all angles.
I drew this one before I'd even moved to the area. Longtime fan.
