Why is art important?

Art is important because we are created in the image of the ultimate creator, making us the ultimate art. All life is centered around art. God has made each one of us unique, just as all art is different from one another, and yet it is all considered art. A piece of art can be interpreted a numerous amounts of ways and yet can draw people closer to one another. There is no one culture, language, or any kind of limit, it’s for everyone. Art can tell stories, evoke emotion, and simply cause people to think. Art allows people to realize what they have in common as well as appreciate their differences.

How do the materials used to make art influence the meaning of the work?

The materials used in a piece can make it or break it, in my opinion. How an artist chooses to portray whatever message they want can come through very differently depending on what materials they choose to use. For a painter it can be the type of paint they use, or for a photographer it can be the way that they choose to edit their photos. No matter the case, every good artist is intentional.

Is unity necessary in an artwork?

I believe that there is always some sort of unity in artwork. Even pieces that are intentionally chaotic or messy, that’s order in itself. Without unity, when using any kind of medium in art, it would not make sense. The unity aspect comes in even in a chaotic piece when the artist is intentional with what they are creating, and what they are using to create.
