The importance of colour timing, or rather, why so many of your blurays kind of look like shit.
The worst culprit of all time probably being the original French Connection bluray which was so bad it was almost unwatchable and renounced by the cinematographer who later helped re-time it for a re-release.
Ultimately it comes down to a personal preference: what looks better to you? Sometimes new bluray colour timings actually look quite nice to my eye, other times not. Are most people going to know what the film is "supposed" to look like? And what is "supposed to" -- as it was originally presented, or what the director intended? What if the director and cinematographer make the change for what they always wanted? Is that okay?
Ultimately though, there is something disconcerting about going back and changing the look and feel of old movies to fit into today's aesthetics. Keep it true to the original (or as true as one can be) should be the primary goal at all times.
