This is a song from a concept album my last band was working on, but never completed. The album tells the story of Captain Kosmo an astronaut on a mission to find a new planet for humanity as the earth is doomed. The sun has grown too large and is burning up the planet we once called home. There are still many people on earth, but there is not much time. He and his partner journey through a black hole but his partner is disintegrated while outside of the ship. Kosmo passes through the black hole to find the earth, but after he lands his ship he can see this is a mirror of the earth and not the one he left behind. He leaves this “other earth” and makes his journey back home. The track home is him reflecting on his love that he left behind on earth. Eventually, Kosmo begins to develop “space madness” while traveling alone. he begins to see the ghost of his partner about his ship trying to remolecularize himself. As he finally reaches the earth he sees that he is too late and that it has been destroyed by the sun. He then decides to end his life by flying his ship into the sun and joining the “other earth” which he now realizes was the afterlife.
It was a great story that we really wanted to develop into a big project, but with only two members in ColourNoise at the time it just proved too difficult for us. I’m sure one day we will pick it back up and finish it, but in the meantime here is “Home”.
As promised here is a cover of Science Fiction/Double Feature from Rocky Horror Picture Show! Devo and I have always enjoyed this song and we have done acoustic covers of it for years, so we decided to lay it down in a recording. This version of the song is purely ColourNoise however because as a band we always try to do things a little differently. Rather than do our standard acoustic version I wanted to really go out there with the vocals, which in turn meant the music had to get louder and aggressive. Overall I am pleased with what we came up with, and I hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Here is the newest ColourNoise song, Pawns.
This song was written as far back as the days of The Bloody Mushrooms, but Devo and I never brought it to the other guys. We just sort of shelved it until now. Devo recorded the guitars, bass, drums, and backing vocals. I recorded the lead vocals, the keyboards, and some backing vocals as well. The lyrical content depicts an uprising in a dystopian monarchy in the future. The focus switches from the king and his queen to the perspective of the pawns. Please enjoy.
