DRAWING PROCESS
My sketchbook is very much a process of thought development and ideas. I started by looking at cliff faces with reference to the idea of fossils and jewels. I left this idea and used the texture of cliffs by introducing binder and layers of acrylic onto my pages whilst exploring colours.
small chain repeats, i have used these to start to see how i can simplify the shapes of jewels found in the Cheapside hoard. Looking at these items as simplified shapes has been really interesting especially when thinking about the fact that I'm designing for kids. This is a demographic that sees everything simply, they break thing apart to understand them - just as i am in my design process. I am understanding the shapes of jewels and becoming more familiar with them as i break them down.
WHITE SPACE: I have used a lot of this in my book and this is not how i want to be working. As i move onto samples , i will work on dyed fabrics and challenge myself to embrace colour on colour more and play around with extracting colour instead of always working from white and adding it.
