I'm really sorry guys...I can't find more than the "additional faqs" post and I'm sure you've already answered this but...can we combine prompts into one fic? Like if I wanted to use "a cry for attention" and "ambulance" in the same fic would that be okay?

No problem at all!

You can definitely combine prompts in whatever way you would like. You can write all of the prompts in one continuous fic, write them all separately or combine a handful at a time.

At some point, it was asked if you could combine last years prompts with this years prompts and that's perfectly okay too.

All we ask is that you specify which prompt/s inspired your work.

I think you've answered this before, but I can't find it. So I want to participate in whumptober and angstober, but I don't think I can do all 62 prompts. Can I combine them for 31 prompts total and still count as a completionist?

You have to use all 31 days of our prompts to be a completionist for our event. If you want to combine that with another event that overlaps, that's fine with us.

For example, their day 13 "Skeleton in the closet" might work well with our day 10 "Secrets." One work that hits both those themes would be fine for both challenges.

But you cannot substitute their prompts for ours and consider yourself a completionist of our event, no.

Fortunately, all you get for being a completionist is bragging rights and a nifty little banner, so if you can't get there, it's not a big deal!

Could I ask 2 questions regarding the Whumptober rules? Its my first time participating. I tried reading the FAQ and the rules but I just dont get it, im sorry.

There are 4 prompts for every day. Can I use one prompt from one day for a fanfic on another day?Like, lets say prompt a from day 1 for a fanfic on day 3? 2. Can I use multiple prompts for 1 day or is it just 1 per day?

You can use multiple prompts from the same day in one work, yes. You can also combine different day's prompts (a prompt from day 1 and a prompt from day 3) in one work.

You can't substitute a day's prompt for a different day.

You can substitute an alt prompt for any day and/or combine it with a day's prompts.

Examples ✅

"don't be scared, I've done this before" + non-human whumper (both day 4)

"don't be scared, I've done this before" + non-human whumper + touch (day 4 and day 9)

"don't be scared, I've done this before" + ziptie (day 4 and alt)

ziptie instead of any day 4 prompt (alt substitution)

DO NOT DO 🚫

isolation instead of day 4 prompt (day substitution)

hi, i hope you don't mind me coming in to ask, but i was wondering something. if i didn't do a prompt every day or missed one or two days and didn't make them up, but used multiple prompts in several works, would that still count as doing 31 prompts and make me eligible for completionist status?

Combining prompts counts if you used prompts from everyday, not just the same days. For example, combining several prompts from day 1 still only counts as one day, whereas combining prompts from day 1 and 2, or combining day 1 with an alt, counts as two days

Hi, I just wanted to clarify!

For completionist, does it need to be a prompt from each day or can I do 2 of the prompts for a single day?

For example: If I did both “emotional angst” and “shoulder to cry on” from Day 20, is that one prompt counted towards completionist or two?

You can do two prompts in the same day, but it'll only count once. Each day is a fill. If that still doesn't make sense, comment here and I'll try to explain further!
