As of November 5th the AO3 collection had 5345 works from 954 fandoms. Remember that the AO3 collection will remain open, and you can add to it year-round, whenever you find yourself filling a prompt from the 2025 list. The other years collections remain open too!

We’ve had a great time and we’re so glad for the opportunity to run this whumptastic event. We’re now going to shut up shop for the season, but we’re still around to answer asks and moderate the Discord.

Sorry you're having trouble adding to the collection. As it stands all the AO3 Collections for WT are open, so I'm not sure what's happening there!

The Results Are In!

Hi all, remember the trope vote we did alll the way back in July? Well, now the event is coming to a close, we wanted to share some of the statistics!

So out of the 1821 responses to the 274 tropes:

The TOP 10 most voted for tropes were:

“I’m Fine.”: 1020 votes (1st 2024)

Collapsing/Fainting/Passing Out: 1018 (2nd 2024)

Bleeding Through Bandages: 1001 votes (6th 2024)

Ignoring an Injury/Illness 961 votes (5th 2024)

Hidden Illness/Injury/Scar: 960 votes (6th 2024)

Emotional Angst: 939 votes (9th 2024)

Childhood Trauma: 930 votes

When we start to make the prompts list, we took inspiration from the most voted for, and from the least voted for. Then between us four mods, we chose our favourite tropes and added them to the mix before discussing as a team which lyrics/dialogue to assign each day etc.

We are very proud with how the prompts list has turned out, and we have been blown away with the positivity we have received - thank you all very much. It has been amazing to see what everyone has been making this month based on our prompt list!

I really wanted to thank yall. It’s been over a year since I’ve written anything, but when the prompts for this year came out I got so excited I wrote out ideas for so many of them same day. I didn’t end up posting anything this month, but that was because opening up my writing folder again inspired me to plan out a huge non-whump fic that I’ve been so excited about I can’t think about anything else. It feels so good to write again. I just want yall to know that your event inspires a lot of people, even if they’re not participants!

Thanks so much for the prompts, I had loads of fun writing Whumptober stories! I wrote a fic for every day but my health issues flared up halfway through the month so I wasn't able to get them all posted in time to claim the Whumptober Completionist badge, but I'm still happy to have competed (and I'll be continuing to post what I wrote in the Whumptober collection on ao3 until they're all out)

Thank you again for going through the work of thinking up interesting prompts, answering questions, and whatever background work you had to do to keep things going, this was my first year and I hope to participate again next year 🙂💚

unfortunately i definitely assumed i would be way more locked in than i actually was and did not manage to finish whumptober on account of exam season :') i still want to write the fics i have planned using the prompts bc they are AWESOME, but should i still use the whumptober 2025 collection on ao3? or should i keep the late entries separate?

As Whumptober comes to a close, I just want to thank you all! The awesome mods who make this event possible, and all the tumblr fairies that help run the archive. You are all amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

To all the other writers, I hope you all had as much fun as me! I managed 21 out of 31 days, and I'm pretty proud of myself! This event always helps me out of my writing slumps, and I'm already looking forward to trying for completionist again next year!

I'm not going to be able to finish the last prompt of the month as it's ending very soon where I am and things have been more hectic, but I will do by tomorrow. Can I still be a completionist? When are the forms up until and when do you need them by to count?

The form will be open for a few days so you have until then. Technically we won't know whether you finished before today or not

I made it! I filled in all the prompts before midnight on October 31! Sorry, I already sent an ask yesterday, but I'm checking again: I filled all the prompts, but didn't post everything yet. English isn't my first language, and translating takes me a while. I should have everything posted by November 2, but does that still count as completion?
