About my experiences with sexism in comedy.
A guy called me sexy and I can't stop thinking about it. So I wrote about it. Let's talk about this. #LetsBeBetter

The Omaha Comedy Community:
I want to start off by saying that I am just as responsible for a fractured community as anyone, and I'm sorry. We are all doing our own thing, and we get passionate. We take different routes to achieve our different goals. We also have responsibilities. I'm still learning them for running a venue, and what that means toward the community as a whole. Everybody's not going to live up to your expectations, not even half the time, to be optimistic about it. There is a pretty good sized scene right now, and competition is making people hungry. We don't have to hunt together, we just have to not be cannibals, and we should keep living just fine. This Saturday, Backline is hosting a free show that a number of great comedians in the area volunteered for, hoping we get donations to help us move to a bigger space. It's great to see how many different groups are willing to come together. We're not even the only comedy show in town this night. Besides the Funny Bone, you can check out a pretty new show by Bob Gurnett. Bob has really become a strong force in himself, coming from the other side of the comedy community in this town. OK Party has created their own stand-up community, and that's great. I can only hope each and every comedian in this city has great shows. It's good for everyone. They've inspired a number of people to give it a shot. I encourage every person in this city to do what they want, and don't stop someone else from doing the same. We'll all have our own expectations of what we want this young community to grow up and become, however just like an improv scene- the more you try to force it, the more it loses control. If you're giving comedy a try in this city (or anywhere,) then I support you.
Watching Funny People..
and Seth Rogen was wearing a UCB t-shirt which made me smile a rather large amount. It also features Aubrey Plaza and Aziz Ansari (both their characters do stand up!), another link between Parks and the rest of the comedy world, woo!
As far as the film goes, it's pretty good, features many of my favourite actors and has some solid jokes but I'm worried it's going to get sad..
I really, really hope this season of Funny or Die on HBO is good. I feel very strongly that Season 1 of Funny or Die was not very good, and that's me being kind. I think the consensus was disappointment, or was it just me??
But that was Season 1, the season to work out some kinks, now it's Season 2, no more excuses. I'm really, really hoping they knock it out of the park this season. Why? Because good comedy content breeds the demand for more good comedy content and I am in the business of creating (hopefully) good comedy content. In a way HBO gambling on FOD is them gambling on the entire comedy community. If they knock it out of the park, it opens the door to alot of other places (Showtime, Starz, who knows) saying, you know what "maybe we should do something like that." It seems like every day I hear about a new network I would have never expect to be developing original comedy trying to get into the game. But all that might stop if FOD doesn't do well this year. We need you guys at FOD to succeed so we can turn every channel into our comedy playground. Matt Ritter and Friends on the Oxygen Network, why not!
