'Guardians of the Galaxy' Director James Gunn Apologizes for Controversial Jokes: 'I'm Sorry and Regret Making Them at All'

Ok, I won't touch this subject again, but some people need to chill the f@ck out before they jump to conclusions. 

Some things done in the past can't be judged with today's standards! 

Making questionable and distasteful jokes about rape and pedophilia are not the same as if you're doing them!

People are making mistakes every single day, that's life. We stumble, we stand up and try not to stumble anymore. 

And he has apologized for his mistakes in 2012...

Now imagine if Richard Pryor had Twitter 40 years ago...or George Carlin for that matter. 

Please, stop being so judgemental!!! 

I am done with Disney/Marvel. I won't post anything MCU related (apart from collectibles) until they grow up, pull their heads out of their asses and start to function as normal people. I don’t see it happening, but if enough people start to lose interest in their social justice agendas it might happen. 

Marvel just fired one of their best directors. I am sure they contemplated it before acting. 

Hopefully, Warner Brothers will see the opportunity in this ;)

I did stand-up comedy from 2011-2020, and was heavily involved in the NYC comedy scene during what some would call the “comedy boom” of the 2010s.

Being in that time I watched the rise and fall of an artistic scene, and I think it was both a huge learning experience in how communities spontaneously build themselves and implode. Also, being at the other end of it - utterly burned out and sort of bitter of the experience - it taught me both how “comedy” is used as a political tool by, like, really, really, really shitty people.

And I kinda want to write about it (ultimately a multi-part video series) and use my tumblr as a way to explore these ideas.

I think my primary motivation is to;

1. Tell the story of stand-up in the 2010s, and how community-building happened inside of it and how commercial interests undermined that community building.

2. Reframe how we look at stand-up and comedy as being useful. Currently it’s about “truth to power,” and I think that “free speech” frame work lets Nazis run rampant. Clearly people in power recognize comedy as a source of power, and so it’s worth unpacking where the power lies.

I’m going to be posting random thoughts that hopefully can be strung together here. Comedy is sort of dead to me, but also I’m entering into a new political space and everything I learned from comedy in terms of, like,  translates so seamlessly.

So, anyways, I’m going to use #comedyisdead as a hastag if you want to follow these thoughts and shit.

I'm sorry that this is rushed, I just really had to post something and I'm studying on a test so I quickly made a comic with my phone, I didn't have enough time to think of a joke so I just made these cringy, although I did work on a drawing yesterday I just didn't upload it cause I forgot
