She gave me a lecture on how retired people should act and bringing a female robot into her house was not the act of a sane old fart. “I forbid you having such idle nonsense.” I pressed down hard on the “add to cart” button and awaited the outcome… Hilarious. Humour seems to be a strong element. At the halfway mark, the plot is moving along at a good pace with a mixture of outrageous humour and philosophical musings that are relevant to the discussion about AI.

The jury is still out on who the typical reader would be. All in all, it’s a good story so far. Cracking good humour! The prose is well crafted and accessible, although the style of writing feels more American than Australian, which may be intentional to broaden the appeal. The potential audience: The topic of human–robot relationships aligns with current trends in fiction and movies. This book is well worth a read. It is an introduction to what is coming in the future between humankind and its inventions.
