Running Griffin could handle. He’d been running for years now, arms pumping, lungs straining, and breaths hissing out through parted lips. His body had long since become accustomed to the simply random spurts of needed speed, carrying himself away from situations long before danger could arise. Running away always worked. Except when a wire snagged around Griffin’s left foot. Being abruptly yanked upside-down into the air while he was running? Now that was something new.
Letting out a yell of surprise, Griffin found himself dangling from his ankle. Twisting and cursing under his breath, his fingers pulled at the edges of his leg but could never drag himself high enough to reach the cords wrapped tight around his leg. Panic quickly rose in his chest as he squirmed, held tight by the trap.
A cracking twig had him freezing in place, piercing blue eyes narrowing as fear bubbled below the surface. “If you’re going to attack me then do it,” he called, thankful to note his voice never wavered. “And if you’re not then can you cut me down or something? Or I guess you could just leave me hanging. Though I’d prefer you didn’t.”
