listen. jack asking rogers if he speaks spanish, imagining himself several days from that moment surrounded by a language he probably only knows key phrases in. jack concerned that he will die with 1. never seeing anne ( or charles ) again and 2. not even understanding a Single Word his executioners speak to him before the noose is laid in its place around his neck. and lbr this is jack rackham we’re talking abt, you know he would want one of those moments beforehand, where he gives an impassioned speech abt piracy and the legacy he wishes to leave, but what is the Point if no one will understand what he’s saying -- he’s come so far only to be secreted away and hanged in a place where he and his word, his final breath, don’t matter.
