“What is wrong?” His query is direct-- minimalist. For someone normally so verbose he manages to be succinct when he notices how distressed Jon seems. It was not like the boy to be so-- emotional. Thomas himself had taught him the importance of balancing emotional responses to stimuli. If something could shake him so-- it had to be pertinent.

Had something happened to his dog?

Or-- had he uncovered the truth?
