I do find it wild that despite not being the protagonist, Marvel!Loki was technically created earlier than Marvel!Thor in 1949. This was for Timely Comics (which became Marvel Comics) in a comic aimed towards girls where Venus was the protagonist.

He was designed as a ginger with lots of Satan-like/Hades-like aesthetics at the time (both Marvel!Thor and Marvel!Loki were gingers at first).

Loki as we know him now with the green-gold color scheme and black hair, did appear after Thor in JiM #85 (1962).

There was also a brief time very early where Mjolnir didn't turn Donald Blake into Thor, but Donald Blake just gained Thor's powers while wielding Mjolnir.

In modern human AUs, Loki's profession should either be a lawyer or a research scientist (Chemistry is especially fitting). I see too many influencer, ice skater, artist, librarian, or baker. I feel like if you want to show Odin being disappointed, you should add that Odin wanted him to be a lawyer but he chose the lower-paid life of a chemist. If you want to show Odin being very strict about his choices and still having a hold over him, him being a hell of a lawyer works. Odin might have wanted him to handle the legal side of the family business empire.

For Thor, if Loki's a lawyer, it would be business to keep the family business empire going, otherwise, an MD because Donald Blake (Thor's human alter ego that eventually becomes an entirely different character) is a medical doctor. And if Loki chose scientific research you should ALWAYS have Odin talk about how much money Thor makes.

I think it's possible to not have Odin have some business empire to inherit and just give him the immigrant parent treatment were only medical doctor or lawyer are appropriate careers.
