Any updates on Red Death X?
“At the moment we haven’t received any new reports-”
Before Signas could finish his report a call came through on the communicator.
“Commander Signas, come in Commander we’ve located Maverick Hunter X. We’re going to attempt to apprehend him.” a voice called out as if they had been running. Signas’ eyes widened in surprise, he quickly pressed a button on the console in front of him and responded to the transmission.
“This is Commander Signas, do no engage with him! If you’ve located Megaman X can you verify your coordinates?” he replied gesturing to a nearby Operator to get ready.
It took a moment for the voice to respond, the sounds of blaster fire and shouting could be heard. “Hunter X is on the attack! He’s too strong for our numbers,” a break between the yelling for a volley of shots, “Requesting backup!”
A hiss of anger left Signas’ lips. “Damn it I said don’t engage!” His fist pounded the desk in front of him. Another round of blaster shots filled the communicator.
“S-somethings happening sir it looks like...h-he’s charging some kind of weapon!”
“Never mind that, fall back now!”
Another round of gun fire.
“We’re trying to fallback Commander but we can’t seem to shake him! He’s using some kind of strange cannon we’ve never seen before!?”
Another round of gun fire and the sudden thrum of an explosion that seemed so loud that it could somehow be felt despite being so far.
“Unit 27. Come in Unit 27!” Signas yelled over the comms. However, there was no reply. Just the somber static filled silence. Though the silence was quickly filled with a familiar and yet distinctly malicious chuckle.
“Hehehehe, Hi Siggy, this is X. Next time you want to send a search party out to find me, make sure they’re tougher than a bunch of low life dogs.I barely had any fun.” a rapturous bark of laughter echoed the communications and judging from his tone he’d had a blast. Literally.
“ Aaaanyway, I’m not busy right now so if you want to send anymore toys my way I’ll be thrilled to tear them to bits. Ciao~” the connection cut out abruptly with the sound of a sickening crunch.
The room went silent again. No one knew what to do or say in this situation.
“Commander, we have the Unit’s last coordinates.” the Operator finally managed to pipe in through the silence. Signas opened his mouth to reply, however,
“Good. Leave X to me...I’ll go stop him myself.”
