Common Chicory
Seeding: outdoor-cultivation from March to June
Time of blossoming: June to September
When Friedrich II launched coffee tariffs back in the 18th century, the roots of Common Chicory were used as a coffee substitute. The dried root was roasted and ground. The powder was called chicory coffee. In theory of Bach flowers, Common Chicory stands for the “Flower of Giving” – and therefore for interpersonal love. The flower cleans body and soul and is, according to Bach, a remedy for apprehensiveness. Common Chicory balances people who are possessive, egoistic and prone to criticize. The plant bolsters selfless love, motherliness and independence.
Usage: The blooms are edible.
