Your inputs in engaging each other was not just encouraging but quite rewarding to see the great exchange of dialogues, laughter and cohesion. Dean Guterman invites org reps to “meet with [him] shortly after the 2 community meetings are held”

On November 23rd, 2015 at 1:36 pm - a few hours after this website launched and before our first community meeting - Dean Neil Guterman sends the following email to a few student representatives from The Elephant, BSA, and LSA the following email. The organization reps have yet to decide to accept the invitation or not. Stay tuned for updates on this blog and our timeline. 

Dear student representatives of the Elephant, the Latin@ Student Association, and the Black Student Association, I would like to invite you to meet with me shortly after the two community meetings are held so we can review next steps in our taking up matters in the petition submitted last Spring time.  As I noted in my email to the SSA community, I have been presenting and discussing the summer committee report to all segments of the SSA community for feedback and input, and today and the following Tuesday meetings will be a first opportunity to hear from the full student body, as well as staff, at SSA about the report and action plan.  As I earlier stated, I would like to meet with the Elephant, the Latin@ Students Association, and the Black Students Association shortly after, and once we have garnered this input from the full range of all segments of the SSA community. I will ask Tanya to see if we can find a time shortly after the second community meeting next Tuesday to get together for a follow-up. I look forward to meeting soon, and I hope to see you at one or both of the upcoming community meetings. My sincere thanks for your efforts to move SSA forward, Neil Guterman

For Monday’s community forum taking place 11-23-2015, we welcome all of you to join us in by participating in the following ways:

Share this post and website via email and social media!

Encourage others to attend the forum. Let’s use our organizing power and bring along at least 1 other person to attend the forum, especially incoming students.

Wear Black to the forum to show that we have not forgotten about the student struggle at Mizzou, Yale, and additional schools of higher education - such as ours.

The LASC Campus Community Forum will take place at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 5, at the Little Theater. The forum will focus on helping students achieve success in and outside of the classroom. We welcome your attendance for what should be a very informative night. Dr. Lance Robert, a Political Science professor at LASC, will be the moderator. Los Angeles Community College District Trustee Sydney Kamlager will talk at the beginning of the forum as will Dr. Keith C. Nathaniel, director of Los Angeles County Extension. Panelist will include Rick Hodge, LASC Career and Technical Education Dean; Heidi Tatum, LASC Health professor; Stephanie Burrus, LASC Reading instructor; Rachel Henderson, LASC student and Political Science major; Quentin D. Strode, Managing Director and Principal at ATRIFEX CAPITAL & ADVISORY; and Pastor K.W.
