The Dish On: Community Tavern
You’re reading our blog series “The Dish On”! Explore our restaurant participants, meet the chefs, and whet your appetite for à la carte 2017! This week, #TheDishOn features Community Tavern, a participant in this year’s à la carte 2017 French Food Festival and one of our favorite steakhouses in Chicago.
Since its arrival in 2015, Community Tavern has made a splash in the Portage Park culinary scene. This “boutique steakhouse” brings bold and creative takes on old classics to a neighborhood that is just recently emerging on the Chicago foodie map.
With painted-over brick walls, eclectic lighting fixtures, and royal purple dining chairs, the rustic-chic interior is refined without pretension. The restaurant sits at the crossroads of elegant boutique and neighborhood tavern, elevating traditional steakhouse fare in a stylish but approachable space.
Insidehook Magazine named Community’s double cheeseburger the Best Steakhouse Burger in Chicago. The burger is simple: two patties topped with aged cheddar, caramelized onions, and “Community Sauce” on an eggy brioche bun. The creamy, melted cheese, tangy sauce, and soft bite of the onions come together to make this no-frills burger stand out in a world of over-dressed sandwiches.
In addition to their delicious menu, Community Tavern has amazing daily offers like $30 prix-fixe meals on Tuesday, $25 bottles of unique wines on Wednesday, fried chicken on Thursdays, and $5 burgers on Sundays.
With a beautiful interior, creative food, and great daily specials, you’ll love this Portage Park gem. Stop by October 5-15, 2017 during the à la carte French Food Festival to experience the boutique steakhouse for yourself.
Address: 4038 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60641
