Left-Over Space House - Cox Rayner Architects
Completed in 2012, this recycled caretaker's cottage has been transformed into a clever family home that demonstrates what is possible with limited space. Barely 3 metres wide in places, the property easily caters for parents and two children; boasting all the amenities and comforts expected from such a home.
A connecting bridge functions as a library and connects the living room and kitchen spaces, beyond which lie several bedrooms and a roof deck. Windows provide natural light and viewpoints out into the street but allow for privacy via the use of iron shutters.
Only five metres wide at its largest point, this property is a fantastic achievement in space-saving design and clever site management. See more at: ArchDaily

This video presents one of his projects in Hong Kong, which he has dubbed as ‘Domestic Transformer’.
Hong Kong, as well as many other dense urban cities, are heavily populated and lack space. As result, space is more valued and precious.
On the contrary, Australia has an abundance of land which is often…wasted or mistreated.
These kind of projects really intrigue me. I’ve been brought up to not ‘waste’ things, whether it be food, clothes, money etc etc…
I think this kind of up bringing has moulded my way of designing.
Space, should be appreciated and not wasted.
