First off this is #JunePrideMonth2019. Second my #CompassFriend @charleneattardrealtor is going to be riding for about 600 miles on a bike to raise funds for #AIDSResearch. This is a bike thing for the organization #AIDSLifecycle; have you ever ridden from #SanFranciscoToLosAngeles?! I actually tried it once as I used to be a pretty avid rider thanks to @azcyclery. My knees quit on me just before the ride back over a decade a go now and my riding and racing career was pretty much sealed. Instead I was encouraged to volunteer and I did for about 3 years. I took off one week every year, my only vacation time to do this event and loved the volunteership and the camaraderie. I met lots of great people; some I still keep up with on social media. Truthfully though, after a while I was asking myself why I was doing this. My riding days were over, I’m not gay, it’s my only vacation so I stopped. I’m really glad Charlene is riding and keeping it going for me. And for all the people volunteer in my place I salute you. I also salute all of you that get on a bike and ride instead of drive wherever you go and whatever you do. Bikes can make a difference. . . . .
