A POP-UP SHOP FOR SUVIVORS
We hosted a very special event at Survivor’s Pathway in support of Domestic Violence and Sex Trafficking Survivors for both transgender and cis women. We created our renowned boutique like Pop-Up Shop offering high quality articles of clothing, shoes, accessories and cosmetics, coupled with HIV outreach work inclusive of testing, education, distribution of preventative kits and care coordination.
Transgender people face extraordinary levels of physical and sexual violence, whether on the streets, at school or work, at home, or at the hands of government officials. More than one in four Trans people have faced a bias-driven assault, and rates are higher for trans women and trans people of color.
Transgender individuals experience a dramatically higher prevalence of IPV victimization compared with cisgender individuals, regardless of sex assigned at birth. Lack of legal protections against discrimination in employment, housing, and social services likely foster vulnerability to IPV.
Thank you to our sponsors Gilead Compass Initiative and Gamma Mu Foundation for allowing us to spread job and deliver resources with an unmatched level of dignity to those that need it the most.
