A heroic gesture in a troubled time

I'd driven out to the jail today to see a client here in Modesto.
Was informed by the jail clerk that they were really busy inside the jail and it would be a long wait. I decided to come back another time. Headed home , as I approached an intersection, the maroon car in front of me started through the intersection, then slowed and stopped . The driver’s door flew open and a young woman leaped out. She was probably in her late 20’s, Hispanic, with long dark hair. I had gotten a glimpse as she stopped of a man in a wheel chair struggling to cross the road in front of her car. He also looked to be Hispanic, wearing dark clothing. Black hair.
As I sat in my car and watched, she ran and pushed the man to safety may 40 feet away up on the side walk. She turned, ran back to her car, and as she jumped back into her seat gave me a wave. We both drove on.
Amazing thing to see. I assume the man was homeless. We were in the part of town the homeless frequent.
What the woman did in helping the man to safety was a heroic gesture in a troubled time.
