Complete Monstober III Day 31: Ahmed

And we wrap up this year's Complete Monstober with another trip to one of the most iconic kids' horror book series of all time! This guy took his job of guardian way too seriously and mummified anyone who so much as set foot in the tombs. His TV Tropes entry reads as follows:

Ahmed, ostensibly an unassuming subordinate of archaeologist Ben Hassad, is actually a religious fanatic who kills anyone who disturbs the tomb of Priestess Khala. Initially trying to convince Ben and his crew to abandon their archaeological dig, when Ben continues his work, Ahmed attempts to abduct Ben's daughter Sari and her cousin, Gabe Sabry, from a museum. During his next encounter with Gabe, Sari, and Ben—Gabe having discovered the mummified corpses of Ahmed's previous victims—Ahmed captures the trio in sarcophagi, intending to repeat the mummification process which involves disembowelment, brain extraction, and boiling tar. Frustrated by their attempted escape, Ahmed makes a final attempt to boil the trio in tar before being thwarted by a supernatural occurrence.

Complete Monstober III Day 30: Professor Kindly

Despite his name, this mad scientist had nary a kind bone in his body. Thankfully, he got a taste of his own medicine when an oil company used his machine on him! Here's his TV Tropes entry:

The avaricious Professor Kindly has taken to eliminating his rivals so that he can steal and profit from their ideas. Finding his targets through papers that have been submitted for peer review, Kindly lures the victims to his lair, where he cuts their brains out while they are fully conscious and aware, at one point informing a would-be victim, "Now then, this won't hurt a bit...it'll hurt a lot!" After extracting information from the excised brains, Kindly keeps them as souvenirs, preserving them in jars that adorn his mantel. When Rico Caliente, a jock who gained Sudden Intelligence from a concussion, loses his newfound intellect and escapes Kindly's clutches before his knowledge can be harvested, Kindly sees it as no big loss, since no one will believe what the boy has to say, and he still has Rico's stolen cold fusion thesis to claim as his own and get rich off of. A greedy, sadistic Serial Killer, the professor stands out as the show's starkest example of Humans Are the Real Monsters, as his episode is the only one without any paranormal elements.

Complete Monstober III Day 29: Tortoise John

Ironically enough, the subject of yesterday's post has the same name as a heroic character who was pitted against another particularly nasty individual, and this guy nearly drained a town dry of water. Here's his TV Tropes entry:

Mayor Tortoise John is the corrupt mastermind behind Dirt's water troubles, forcing his town into drought and poverty so he can buy the land dirt-cheap. John strongarms Dirt's citizens into signing off their land to him lest they die of thirst, and has no problem having people who probe into his business murdered, such as the innocent banker Mr. Merrimack; a trio of bandits he has framed and set for execution; or, as confirmed in the novelization, a slew of previous sheriffs who met their ends at the coils of the Mayor's muscle, Rattlesnake Jake. Loyal to nobody and nothing but his visionary ideals, the Mayor tries to have Rango and Beans drowned as he did Merrimack, and tries to execute even Jake for having no place in his ideal city, telling him, "Pretty soon, no one will believe you even existed!"

Complete Monstober III Day 28: Rango of Slovania

Old school comics had no dearth of truly toxic individuals, and this guy does not fail to deliver, wanting to destroy the whole world just for being exiled! Here's his TV Tropes entry:

Rango of Slovania is a power-hungry madman who sought to rule the world. His schemes having been foiled; Rango decided to exterminate every single country as revenge for his failure. He creates a compound to transform himself into a giant rampaging monster slaughtering every city he sees, leaving a path of destruction in his wake. Once confronted by the psychic Master Mystic, the monstrous Rango grabs him with the intent of crushing him to death with his bare hands.

Complete Monstober III Day 27: The Stepmother (The Juniper Tree)

Stepmothers are rarely (if ever) depicted positively in fairy tales, but this one might leave all the others far behind! Much like that of another fairy tale villain for whom I made a post, her fairy tale is considered to be one of the darkest of all time! Here's her TV Tropes entry:

The evil stepmother, upon marrying the husband, grew to resent her stepson, knowing that he would inherit the family's wealth when he got older. Forming a plan, she convinces her stepson into looking into a chest for an apple, only to then decapitate him by slamming the lid onto his neck. The stepmother uses a bandage to reattach her stepson's head, and she manipulates her daughter, Marlinchen (or Marlene in some versions), into thinking that she killed her own brother. She then takes the body, cooks it into a stew, and she serves it to her unsuspecting husband. The story repeatedly makes it clear that the stepmother cared only for herself, and that she committed these actions out of greed, as well as a genuine hatred for her stepson.

Complete Monstober III Day 26: Dimentio

How I missed this for so long, I'll never know. This court jester was the game's real main antagonist, using his "boss" for his own ends just so he could shape the world in his image. Here's his TV Tropes entry:

Dimentio masquerades as a humorous henchman under Count Bleck's employ, while secretly harboring more sinister designs. Dimentio manipulates every faction towards his ultimate goal to use the Chaos Heart to obliterate reality so that he could create a new one under his control. To this end, Dimentio brainwashes Fracktail and sends him out to be killed by Mario; experiments on his own subordinates with the brain-jacking Floro Sprouts; seemingly murders Mario and his friends by sending them to the Underwhere; and secretly implants a Floro Sprout within Luigi's mind to revert him back to Mr. L. After Count Bleck is defeated, Dimentio attempts to kill him, seemingly murdering Nastasia in the process. Dimentio seizes Luigi as his host in the final battle and, after his defeat, uses the Chaos Heart to try to destroy reality as an act of spite. Utterly psychopathic and ruthless, Dimentio’s jester face and humorous lines belied one of Mario’s most evil and sadistic villains.

Complete Monstober III Day 25: Xykon

For all his (superficial) charm and warped sense of humor, this bad boy gave a new meaning to "bad to the bone"! His TV Tropes entry reads as follows:

The silly-seeming but utterly ruthless Xykon plans to unleash the destructive Snarl to obliterate his enemies, uncaring of warnings that it is a beast with the potential to destroy the world. Sacking Azure City to claim their gate which will help him control the Snarl, Xykon gleefully uses a Symbol of Insanity to cause their entire guard to kill each other, deeming it to be the most fun way to wipe them out. In his backstory, when a then-child Xykon's dog dies and he resurrects it, he happily watches it devour a bird, showing he was twisted from the start. As a teenager, Xykon kills and zombifies anyone who bothers him in any way, including a man offering to train him as a sorcerer and his own parents for having let the man into their house at all. In the present, now a Sorcerous Overlord, Xykon carries out horrific acts solely for his own amusement and abuses his goblin henchmen to the point one tries to assassinate him. Allowing the brother of his would-be assailant to kill his brother, Xykon binds him to his service, then mocks him and forces him to bring his brother back as a zombie. Trapping the souls of two mages within a gem where they are doomed to suffer for eternity, Xykon is a Psychopathic Manchild of a ruler devoted only to hurting others to entertain himself.

Complete Monstober III Day 24: Ulrakaah

Formerly a beautiful priestess until her vanity made her as ugly on the outside as she was on the inside, Ulrakaah sought to turn everyone else ugly as well to extend her rule. Here's her TV Tropes entry:

Ulrakaah, the Queen of Darkness and the Mother of Demons, was once a beautiful priestess who succumbed to vanity and evil, trying to conquer Titan. Becoming a demon, Ulrakaah returns with a dark army, unleashing a demonic plague that warps its victims into demons, unleashing them upon Titan to massacre all they find so she can eventually reign over a twisted world of demonic, zombie slaves without care of who dies in the process.
