I find these images captivating; I was once googling 'chess' and 'chess pieces', as I was scrolling down the page I came across these two images. Chess is on of my favorite games to play, I am not good at it, however I find it very fun.
Based on the compositions basics discussed in class, these images follow some of the rules.
I love the black and white (grayscale) tiles and chess pieces, it makes the images strong like it's telling a story. Especially in the second picture, I feeling the chess pieces are posing for the camera.
Rule # 1- Simplicity- Definitely these images are simple, using grayscale colors, the black and white chess pieces and the gray background. It's is very neat and organized, the eye can pinpoint the focus of the picture.
Rule # 2- The object(s) does fill the frame, there's no distractions.
Rule # 3 & 4- Ratio and rule of thirds both apply to these images. It is perfectly symmetrical, and the images fill most quadrants of the photo.
Rule # 5- Lines- These images does use lines, which gives it depth and layers.
Sidenote- It's because of these images, photography is of interest to me.
