I feel like there's such a stark difference between people who get into coding because we genuinely think it's cool/interesting/fun and people who only get into software development as a means of profit. Like, whenever I meet another computer person they're either Someone I Immediately Want To Be Friends with (cool, generally queer and/or neurodivergent, often more than happy to help teach me to code better and infodump to me, almost always anti-elitest) OR Someone I Want To Bite (generally cishet white men, care more about tech companies and the guys that run them than actual tech, mean/condescending if you ask questions, still idolize Elon Musk, etc.) Like, the more tech ppl I meet the more I'm convinced that there are Only Those Two Categories.
I took a long ass break from language learning but I'm back baby 🎉
PSA
Sorry, I've been not much active these days. I have a friend who's at mine so I just rely on the queue. More next.
Also does someone have infos about the master of Intelligent Adaptive Systems in Hamburg? Looks very promising!
Dude being in college right now is so fuckin weird. "I'm taking a class on machine learning next semester. You know, if the department of education still exists". Like, I love learning, but working on my degree kind of feels like a waste of money right now. I feel like the dog in the meme.
I have, officially, as of today, survived my finals and can wash my hands of this hellish semester
I'm currently in a Zoom meeting about a STEM program(?) and while the lecture is super neat, I'm literally in the only type of STEM that isn't explicitly useful here, like we may run the world but at the moment I feel like an outsider of all outsiders
Procrastinating Life
Hi guys! Today is Sunday and I have 2 deadlines (AI & Functional Programming), so I decided to start early (6:30am). (If I can do it, so can you! I’m really not a morning person but the early hours are always much more productive! I use Sleepy Time to schedule my wake up time)
This weekend is also Ludum Dare (making a game in 48 hours) and I would have loved to participate, but with a bunch of homework to do, how can I? I feel this is a pattern that repeats throughout my life. I have so many things I have to catch up with, or procrastinate till the deadline is around the corner, I end up not having time for the things I’d like to do, and the things that would advance my skills.
I have the “barely made it” mentality and I really hate that about myself. And the more I hear about people who broke out of this cycle, the more pathetic I feel...
