When it was time for a computer to go, meaning it no longer functioned for whatever reason, any usable parts were salvaged from them as surplus to aid in future computers.

Those parts included RAM, CPUs, hard drives, floppy drives, CD-ROM drives, DVD drives, sound cards, NICs, video cards, power supplies, etc.

As time passed, 5 of these old power supplies sat on a shelf for years and became so old that they were never going to be used. I have no current legacy computers that can use the 5 power supplies shown in the picture.

Just like when I discarded the old floppy disk storage containers, I would have liked to have given these power supplies to someone who could have used them or donated them to a thrift store. But, just like the disk containers, nobody today wants a decades-old power supply. If it doesn't post on social media or take selfies, people don't want it. So, instead, they have been donated to our local landfill... 🚛
