This section will focus on Public Advocacy and Civic Engagement will introduce students to the debate in the public sphere. It is a means to understand the context, issues, skills, and experiences of citizenship and civic leadership that are required for participation in a democratic society. The course will familiarize students with practices of engagement and inquiry; public issues of ethics; free speech/expression and the responsibilities of advocates; ways to be ethical consumers and public advocates. The course provides communication students with a product that requires application of academic expertise in communication to real world practice.
