Concept Art
There is a strong misconception of what concept art is, and what concept art is not. For aspiring concept an artist, this subject can become very overwhelming as we pour over site, after site, filled with "concept art".
Concept art, is the beginning. It is the bringing to life of an idea. It is rough, it is repetitive, and it is laborious. There is joy to be found in the creation of of concept art as we mill through all the iterations of a design; the one that works. We reach the peak of what concept art is by exploring many options, and hopefully gaining the "go-ahead" by the higher ups.
The reason I'm writing this, is so that those aspiring to be concept artists' do not misunderstand it's purpose. Simply put, concept art IS not illustration. It is not a beautiful image painted over the course of days. It is frantic, sometimes controlled, and full of ideas.
I've been struggling with this for some time now, and I hope that anyone else hitting this similar wall will gain something from what I write. Be careful while you gaze at all the incredible "concept art" you see online, as most of it is actually illustration, or further polished for promotional use.
Theory time? Everyone’s been going crazy trying to figure out what’s happening with exo’s new teaser/concept. So here’s mine: In the first teaser, we see Sehun “waking up” in the grass, in the new solo Sehun teaser, we see him asleep, in a dark room, his hair and clothes completely different to the ones in the first one. This may be way off, but could it be that these are 2 parallel worlds or maybe, these are snippets of before/after the war? Perhaps the one where he wakes up is actually after the events where he fell asleep? Similar things happen to the rest of the members, where their hair and clothing is completely different to what they wear outside in the light?
The concept is actually kinda dark if you factor in what alice in wonderland was about - some argue its about narcotics and euphoria and other drugs and mad hatter disease especially in the movie versions where everything is colorful and crazy - how does that fit into sports? Its no secret some people under high pressure take drugs and steroids. On the positive note though, experiencing victory and love also releases the same chemicals and 'high' that drugs do.
